Tips and Structure for the AP Exam
Here are some tips for how to approach the AP Physics 1 exam, along with a breakdown of the structure and what to expect on test day.
Exam Structure
The AP Physics 1 exam is divided into two main sections: multiple-choice and free-response
Multiple-Choice Section
The MCQ portion of the test consist of 40 question worth 50% of you exam score. You have 80 minutes to solve, \(\approx\) 2 minutes per question.
Tips for the MCQ section:
Free-Response Section
The free-response section is made up of 4 question worth the other 50% of your score. You have 100 minutes to complete this section. There are 4 different types of questions and you will have to answer one of each:
- Experimental Design and Analysis
- Translation between representations
- Mathematical Routines
- Qualitative/quantitative translation
